Description

This PRIVATE tour is rich with the individual stories of rescued wildlife including a large variety of parrots, macaws, owls, sloths, spider monkeys and more! The tour teaches the public about the importance of conservation, facts about rainforest wildlife and what it means to run a wildlife rescue center.

Enjoy the only tour that will take you to the Wildlife Rescue Center including sloths, toucans and other species from the tropical forests of Costa Rica, located in the province of Heredia and learn the most important details of each species through the bilingual guides professionals of the Toucan Rescue Ranch. We will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. in the hotel in San Jose to start a pleasant 25 km journey to the province of Heredia through the beautiful Route 32 with beautiful views of coffee plantations and mountains. Once in the Rescue Center, the tour will start approximately two hours long with professional naturalist guides, who will explain the most important aspects of wild species from the tropical forests of Costa Rica, including sloths and toucans.

We focus on the care, rehabilitation and the study of Costa Rican Sloths, Toucans and other wildlife. We receive and care for confiscated, sick and injured toucans and other wildlife from government agencies, giving them a loving home with the goal of rehabilitating and returning them to the wild. For those that are unable to return to the wild, we provide them life-long care.

A delicious lunch will be served before returning to San Jose, arriving at approximately 2:00 p.m.

The Toucan Rescue Ranch's (TRR) mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release Costa Rican wildlife. TRR works with a model that focuses on conservation, education and research so a brighter tomorrow is promised to the incredible animals of Costa Rica's rainforests. The Toucan Rescue Ranch was established in 2004 by Leslie Howle and Jorge Murillo as a rescue center for toucans and other birds. Nonetheless, the rescue center quickly expanded to owls and other wildlife. In 2007, a baby sloth, Millie, arrived and was solely in Leslie and Jorge’s care. Millie is initially what transformed the Toucan Rescue Ranch into a fully operating wildlife rescue. Leslie and Jorge work as a team alongside a small staff, interns, and volunteers in caring for Costa Rican wildlife. As a charitable organization, we are supported by donations. Donations provide financial support that directly promotes the health and well-being of rescued wildlife. We promise with your support you’re improving the quality of rescued animals lives and the life of our rainforests. The Toucan Rescue Ranch is a licensed Costa Rican wildlife rescue facility.
