Happy Hollow Park & Zoo - (408) 277-3000

I have always been a big fan of Happy Hollow and with the remodel excited to bring a couple of my students for the day. We were pleasantly surprised with the rides, the animals, the food and the care that went into the design of the park. A must for any preschooler or young grammer schooler.

Most of the people who seem to like this place bring up how they grew up going to this place. In other words it was really great when you were 7, but you were 7 about 30 years ago. The truth is 5+ years ago this was a horrible excuse for a zoo. small dirty enclosures for the few actual exotic animals they had and less than stellar facilities. SJ citizens were dumb enough to pass a bond in 2000 that dropped $50 million dollars to this park as well as others and then after being closed for 2 years the park reopened after an 'alleged $70 million green facelift. Now, the park is a $100 million crap hole. The City should sue the company that did the renovation and replace every single solitary person involved in the renovation plan. Parking $10 and the line was ridiculous, 40 minutes. $12 to get into and for what, the same tired exhibits and a petting zoo where you can't and probably would never want to pet anything that is there. How this place got accreditted as an actual zoo is proof
